Success Stories from CANAVUA's Driver Training Class (January 2018)

One of our students holds up her newly obtained learner's license after taking CANAVUA's driver training class.

Every month, between 15 and 20 people receive their learner's licenses thanks to CANAVUA's Driver Training program. The first class of 2018 took place on Saturday, January 20th at La Cité Francophone. For many of the students, the day was a smashing success!

Below is a video showing highlights of the day. In the video, we spoke to one of the students who received her driver's license the day of our course. Click on the thumbnail to watch the video in full.

We wish to thank the many people who are responsible for making our driver training program such a huge success. First and foremost, we are grateful to Dicky Dikamba, Executive Director of CANAVUA, who organizes and oversees every aspect of the program. Furthermore, we would like to thank Serge Allanga, a volunteer driver for CANAVUA, who brought pizza at lunchtime for the workshop participants. As always, Abraham Tsegaye from Global Driving School was our class instructor. This month, Maude Bombardier from the ACFA Régionale d'Edmonton served as our interpreter. At the end of the six-hour workshop, all students were driven to Registrations Are Us in order to write the theoretical exam. As our students didn't yet have driver's licenses of their own, they were driven by Dicky Dikamba, Serge Allangba, Fabrice Leby and Abraham Tsegaye. We are enormously thankful to our volunteers who together ensure the continued success of our driver training program.

We were also fortunate to be joined by Wendy Peverett, Professional Development Specialist at Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association (ECALA). ECALA is the generous sponsor of our driver training program.

Following each class, CANAVUA often receives words of thanks from the students who passed the driving test. The following testimonial, received after the last workshop, is a typical example of the kind words we receive from our many students (translated from French):

"Hello. My name is Aissatou... I took part in your class on Saturday, January 20th, 2018, for the driver's license. I received my Class 7 permit and wish to thank you for your availability and attention. Much thanks from the bottom of my heart. Keep up the good work! You guys are doing a great work. Thanks again!"

  1. I am not sure what you are asking, is it how do you know what comes next when you are driving..well in order to use the brake, you must use the clutch or there will be a serious stall and abrupt stop, that should be easy to remember.

  3. Wow!! This is very nice success stories I found ever. That's really great!
People have a dream that they drive a car or a bus. They have to learn how to drive from a professional trainer and also they should know the rule of driving. When I was just 18 years old, my father said to me to get the driving training from Dollar Driving School of Ventura. And I found my instructor really was excellent. I passed my test on my 1st try. Thanks a lot to my Trainer Mr. Tony.

  4. Thanks for sharing this… getting a driving license by having training from driving schools will be very easy when we compare to getting it on your own. They will guide you and teach you the navigation of driving.
