CANAVUA's Campaign to Promote Volunteerism in Schools in the 2018-19 School Year

CANAVUA continues its campaign to promote volunteering in French-immersion schools in Edmonton.

We will be giving presentations to fourteen different classes at several schools during the 2018-19 school year. J.H. Picard was the first on our list, and our Executive Director, Dicky Dikamba, delivered a presentation on September 28. He spoke to Mme. Trottier’s community service class, whose students range from 11 to 13 years of age, about the work that CANAVUA’s volunteers do in the community and the importance of civic engagement. He also encouraged students to get involved and make a positive difference. The students, in turn, were enthusiastic about volunteering at the CANAVUA’s food bank and Meals by Bus programs.

Dicky believes it is very important to promote the values of giving one’s time and serving others to young people, who will one day become the next generation of engaged and active adults.
